Saddle / Driving Log Program

The AHAA introduced an additional achievement program for its members in 1998.

The Saddle/Driving Log Program is a way for you to earn recognition for the time you spend in the saddle on an Appaloosa or in the seat of a cart behind an Appaloosa.

This system acknowledges the need for personal achievement for the individual who enjoys the benefits gained from riding or driving. Whether you ride/drive out on the trail, train for competition, participate in parades, perform ranch work, or whatever your pleasure, those hours will count.

On an honor system, each rider/driver will keep his or her "saddle log time" (actual hours spent riding or driving). The rider/driver is not required to own the Appaloosa, but all horses must be registered or recorded Appaloosas with the ApHC. The riding/driving time is kept on a Saddle/Driving Log Program form provided by the AHAA. If you are keeping an ApHC Official Saddle Log, you may submit a photocopy of it rather than keeping two logs.

The AHAA also offer a Disabled Riders and Drivers Program which follows the same rules as the Saddle/Driving Log Program. Please indicate on the Saddle/Driving Log form that you are participating in the Disabled program.

Participants in the Saddle Log Program will receive an AHAA Certificate of Achievement for completion of 100, 200, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500 hours of riding/driving. Disabled riders/drivers will be recognized upon completion of 25, 50, 75, 1100, 200, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, and 2500 hours of riding or driving time.

  • You must be a member of the AHAA for your hours to count.
  • You must be an Amateur or Non Pro rider/driver
  • All horses ridden or driven must be ApHCregistered.
  • You must record your hours on an AHAA Saddle/Driving Log Program form or submit a photocopy of an ApHC Official Saddle Log and send it to the AHAA when you have achieved on of the levels.
